On February 8th, the official website of the Ministry of Civil Affairs disclosed the national marriage registration data for 2024.
According to the "Civil Affairs Statistics for the Fourth Quarter of 2024" released on the official website of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the number of marriage registrations nationwide in 2024 was 6.106 million pairs, and the number of divorce registrations was 2.621 million pairs.


In 2023, 7.68 million marriages and 2.593 million divorces will be registered nationwide. In comparison, the number of marriage registrations nationwide decreased by 1.574 million pairs, a decrease of about 20.5%; The number of divorce registrations increased by 28000 pairs, an increase of about 1.1%.
This also means that the number of marriage registrations nationwide has once again declined after experiencing a rebound in 2023.


According to statistics from the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the number of marriage registrations in China has been continuously declining for many years before 2023: in 2013, the number of marriage registrations in China was 13.469 million pairs, which began to decline year by year in 2014, and then fell below the 10 million pairs mark in 2019, the 8 million pairs mark in 2021, the 6.835 million pairs mark in 2022, and the 7 million pairs mark. In 2023, it rebounded to 7.68 million pairs.
