It is reported that there was a suspected gas explosion on the 11th floor of the shopping mall during construction for unknown reasons. According to Taichung Mayor Lu Hsiu yen, the accident has resulted in a total of 4 deaths and 6 people showing no signs of life.

According to Taiwan Television News Network, the location of the explosion is suspected to be the 11th and 12th floors of the food area at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Taichung City. The Taichung Fire Department stated that at 11:33 am today, a gas explosion occurred at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store in Xitun District, Taichung City. The fire department dispatched 27 fire trucks and 62 firefighters. The fire department also stated that according to reports from the public, it is suspected that four people were blown out on the 12th floor.
