On February 28, 2025, the Intermediate People's Court of Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, executed Yu Huaying in accordance with legal procedures, and the procuratorial organ dispatched personnel to supervise on-site in accordance with the law. After trial, the court found that Yu Huaying, in order to seek illegal benefits, conspired with others to commit crimes and abducted 17 children in Guizhou Province, Chongqing City, Yunnan Province and other places from 1993 to 2003.
The Yu Huaying child trafficking case involves 17 children from 12 families. Yu Huaying was arrested in June 2022, went through multiple trials, and was finally executed on February 28, 2025.
Yu Huaying was born in Yunnan in 1963 and later married a man named Wang Jiawen from Chongqing, giving birth to a daughter.
In 1992, after Wang Jiawen was arrested for theft, Yu Huaying started working outside and met Gong Xianliang. During their cohabitation, they gave birth to a boy.
When they were struggling financially, Yu Huaying and Gong Xianliang sold their biological son to Handan, Hebei for 5000 yuan, thus embarking on their evil journey of child trafficking.
From 1993 to 1996, Yu Huaying and her accomplice Gong Xianliang wandered around Guizhou Province, Chongqing and other places for a long time, seeking suitable children for trafficking by renting houses, familiarizing themselves with the local environment.
The two committed eight crimes together, kidnapping 11 children to Handan City, Hebei Province. Through intermediaries, they searched for buyers to make profits. Among these children, 5 pairs are brothers or siblings who were abducted together.
After supplementary investigation, the prosecutor accused Yu Huaying of trafficking six other children, including two children abducted with her husband Wang Jiawen, increasing the number of children abducted by Yu Huaying to 17
Yu Huaying was arrested in Yunnan in 2004 for child trafficking. She and her husband Wang Jiawen concealed their true identities and were sentenced to 8 years in prison under false identities. She was later reduced by three years and released after completing her sentence in 2009.
On June 6, 2022, the Nanming Branch of Guiyang Public Security Bureau launched an investigation into the case of Yang Niuhua being abducted and sold.
On June 30, 2022, Yu Huaying was arrested in Dazu, Chongqing.
On December 19, 2024, the retrial and second instance verdict of Yu Huaying's child trafficking case was announced. The Guizhou Provincial High People's Court made a ruling in court, rejecting Yu Huaying's appeal and upholding the first instance death sentence. This ruling is final. According to Article 246 of the Criminal Procedure Law of the People's Republic of China, it shall be submitted to the Supreme People's Court for approval in accordance with the law. After the approval of the application of the death penalty, it enters the final stage of execution.
