In July 2022, Yu Huaying was criminally detained on suspicion of child trafficking.
On September 18, 2023, the Intermediate People's Court of Guiyang City sentenced Yu Huaying to death and deprived her of political rights for life for the crime of child trafficking in the first instance. Yu Huaying appealed.
On November 28, 2023, the second trial of Yu Huaying's child trafficking case was held.
After the second trial, the procuratorial organ suggested that Yu Huaying be remanded for retrial as it was found that there were omissions in the charges that had not been dealt with.
On January 8, 2024, the Higher People's Court of Guizhou Province ruled that the case of Yu Huaying trafficking children should be retried.
On October 11, 2024, the case was retried in the Guiyang Intermediate People's Court for the first instance, and the number of people charged with child trafficking by Yu Huaying increased from 11 to 17.
On October 25, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Guiyang City once again determined that the circumstances of Yu Huaying's crime were particularly serious and had great social harm. The defendant Yu Huaying was convicted of the crime of child trafficking in accordance with the law, sentenced to death, deprived of political rights for life, and confiscated all personal property. Yu Huaying appealed in court.
