On December 17th, according to CCTV News, with the approval of the Supreme People's Court, the Intermediate People's Court of Xing'an League in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region executed Li Jianping in accordance with the law. Red Star News reporters noticed that 64 year old Li Jianping had previously served as the Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Hohhot Economic and Technological Development Zone in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In September 2018, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision announced that Li Jianping was under investigation during his tenure.
According to a previous document released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission, Li Jianping was accused of using someone else's name to register a company while actually manipulating it to embezzle state-owned assets, and using "rock paper scissors" to decide on the candidates for chairman, general manager, and supervisor. In addition, according to the court's investigation, Li Jianping colluded with others to embezzle 1.437 billion yuan of state-owned funds, which was carried out between 2016 and 2018. Accordingly, the Supreme People's Court has approved the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region High People's Court to uphold the criminal ruling of the first instance sentencing Li Jianping to death.
After receiving the criminal ruling and execution order from the Supreme People's Court, the Intermediate People's Court of Xing'an League sentenced and executed the criminal Li Jianping in accordance with the law. Before his execution, Li Jianping met with his close relatives.
