The United Nations General Assembly held an emergency special session on the 11th and overwhelmingly passed a resolution calling for an "immediate, unconditional, and permanent" ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
This resolution was passed with 158 votes in favor, 9 votes against, and 13 abstentions. The United States and Israel voted against it. The resolution also urges the immediate release of all detained individuals.
According to data released by the Palestinian Gaza Strip Health Department on the 10th, since the outbreak of the new round of Israeli Palestinian conflict in October last year, Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip have caused nearly 45000 Palestinian deaths and over 106000 injuries.
